::With a roll of her eyes, she gestures up ahead to where the shops and stalls of the market lie, and where the crowds swell. She pushes away her own memories at his words and keeps her tone light, her brogue not nearly so pronounced when she isn't overly emotional. She leads him into the throngs, resisting the urge to stop and examine a stall of colorful glass beads::
You haven't bought me dinner yet. Ask me again later. Here is the market. I hope the crowds meet with your approval. It's certainly the most crowded place I know of in Meriddia.
~He rolls his eyes from beneath the fabric covering his eyes.
'Dinner eh? I spose i am a mite hungry. Why don' yeh take us some place as can feed us. I'll e'en let yeh pick.'
Waiting for her to choose he asks,
'So, besides that name o' yours, yeh've told me nowt. Up teh sharin?'~ _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
::The smile on her face slips the slightest bit, and she disguises it as looking intently around the market area. After a moment it returns, and she points to a stall near the middle, surrounded by heavy foot traffic::
That vendor makes wonderful meat pies. Don't worry, they're not very expensive. Popular, though, and crowded for it.
::She leads him over in that direction as she contemplates her next answer::
Well, you know my name, so that's one more thing you know about me than I know about you, Uncle Fergus. I'm Meghan. I live here in Meriddia, more or less, and I craft things.
~glancing where she pointed from underneath his blindfold, he nods and grunts, a bemused smile on his face~
'The smell of them meat pies is anough to set yer mouth ter waterin', tha' works fer me.'
~Taking another sniff of the air his voice turns more serious as he contemplates his next answer.~
'Name's Kaeleth Raennor,' he says with a slight flourish, almost bowing gracefully midstep before resuming his blind, halting pace. 'An now yer know more than anyone about these parts. I ain't such a bad fellar of late but yeh migh' e'en understand if i manage to cheat death long enough.'
~his face turns sombre.~
'If there's more yeh be wantin', it'll be takin some time to explain, but yeh seem worthy of me trust, girl, and i don' say that lightly.' _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
I'm honored to have your trust, I think. Would that be because you're planning on killing me anyway?
::Her tone is light, teasing, though the question is serious. She stops at the stall, in the midst of the impatient crowd, and lets her voice resume a normal pitch. Just a girl and her blind uncle.::
Well, Uncle Fergus, are you able to remember where you put your coin or should I try to find it for you? Though you'll understand if I'm reluctant to stick my hand in your pocket. Family or not, that's a little close for comfort.
~Chuckles loudly at the last comment. Pretending not to notice the barely concealed glances of the crowd.~
'Yeh'd not find any coin in me pockets,' He says, a small purse of coins seemingly appearing in his hand, he hands it to her, keeping up the appearance of being blind. 'Lookin' in that there migh' be as good a start as any though, i be thinkin'
~Lowering his voice so that the gruff rumbling couldn't be heard by the crowd standing in too close a proximity for his liking, he continues softly~
'I've no intention of killing yeh girl, i jus' had to give yeh the options as i see'd em, an besides, the way as things stand, yeh've treated me kindly. Most would've been more likely teh be lookin fer a way to 'scape. Yeh've an kind heart girl, and after seein things as i have, it be quite pleasant.'
~He shuffles his feet a bit, the gruffness re-enters his voice.~
'Jus' don' misun'erstand, i migh' have a cold heart but i'm no monster.' _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
Ironic, that. I've been called a monster, but I don't have a cold heart.
::Her voice was a mumble, barely audible even to herself. She takes the pouch and looks inside, pulling out exactly the right amount for two pies and hands the coin to the stall owner. She places the pouch back into Kaeleth's hand::
You can count that later to make sure I didn't short-change you if you like.
::Balancing the steaming pies on one arm, she leads him away from the stall to a bench nearby, still within the noise and bustle of the market::
Do you have an idea of what you'd like to see next, Uncle? Or... hear, anyway?
~Taking the coin pouch from meghan, he deftly slides it back into the hidden pocket inside his sleeve, drawing no attention to the minor movement.
He lets himself be lead to the bench, feeling out his seat even though he can see clearly through the thin covering on his eyes. He chuckles at the comment but keeping his voice low enough to not be heard he continues,~
'Exactly how well do yeh be knowin these here streets girl?' _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
Well enough to get from one place to another safely, though I mostly stick to the main roads. I spend most of my time in the city here, around the markets, with an occasional trip to a tavern if I feel like taking a break.
::To keep with the ruse of him being blind, she lifts his hand and puts one of the pies in it carefully::
It might need some cooling, but they're best as hot as you can stand them.
~Holding the pie carefully, he lifts it to his mouth, testing the temperature on his tongue. The sudden smell of food makes him realise how hungry he really is and he quickly takes a bite, barely chewing before swallowing.~
'Yeh sure do be knowin' yer stuff girl, these pies is quite tasty.'
~With a quickly flashed grin, he takes another bite of pie, taking a little mroe time to savour it.~
'I need teh be findin' me a place as i can lay low, somewhere out o' the way, but as wont get too much attention o' th' wrong sort if i does be comin' an goin'. Yeh know anythin' o' the sort?
~With a mildly impudent grin he adds,~
'Unless yeh'd rather i impose on yeh further.' _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
::She laughs brightly, loudly, and pats his shoulder in a familiar manner::
Why Uncle, of course you're welcome in my home. What would Mother have thought if I turned you away?
::After a careful bite of her meat pie, her voice returns to its near-whisper::
I'm not sure I can help you with that, not in Meriddia. I'm sure there must be places like that, but I avoid them whenever I can. I've heard stories about Del Fuaco, though, and that sounds perfect for you, if you're willing to travel there. Otherwise, maybe somewhere on the outskirts of Meridda, away from the Palace.
~He rubs his chin thoughtfully, a slight grimace maring an otherwise tranquil expression.~
'Yeh be misunderstandin' girl, Yeh see, i've seen many, many winters, and folk such as meself don' usually survive long without learnin' to trust yer instincts.'
~He pauses, choosing his words carefully.~
'Well, my instincts be like my eyes, they don't be entirely natural, so i definately be listening when they be talkin.'
~Realising he sounds like a mad man he lowers his voice further, his words barely audible.'
'I had a lucky escape at that Tavern, and now my every bone is urging me to disappear til the dangers passed. I'm not looking to winter here girl, I just be needin a cosy little place to stay out of sight so that i still be breathing when i leave this here city.' _________________ <img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc317/JimmyLimRG/Signature.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

I have a small cabin just outside the city. It's not near any other homes. If we're playacting the family, it wouldn't seem amiss for you to be staying with me. It's small, but it suits my purposes well enough, and it abuts the woods, so you could slip off if any trouble came calling.
