*Angel sat waiting at the courtyard fountain, unware that it was Abigail winterhaven crafted into a statue the middle. Bundled up high in white and grey furs, she rubbed her gloves together. It was a cold day, but not howling with winds or snowing. Certainly a day which could be tolerated if you were accustomed to such climates. Angel was still getting there and noted that they could just as easily go inside if it became too dire. Summons had been sent ahead to Kinsen, so all she did was wait in deep thought.* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen steps into courtyard, arrayed in his armor and cloak. He hair fell free down his back, a shield strapped there as well. under the shild, the hilt of his family blade pokes over his shoulders. at his waist hangs a dirk, and opposite that a cruel-looking mace. he notices Angel with a smile and offers a wave in freeting as he approaches, seemingly unbotherd by the cold.= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Angel noted his approach and turned her head more to watch him draw near. She smiled warmly, pleased to catch him alone where formalities could be overlooked. As he waved, she nodded her head bringing herself onto her feet.*
"There you are! Have you been busy with the fleet, dear friend? I was wondering if you were going to be late!"
*Her tone was light-hearted, joking with him. She patted his should*
"Seriously, its good to see you. I don't believe we've truely had a good time to talk since you've returned." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen laughs and looks to the sky for a moment. "Thankfully, I'm not late." he grins. "Aye, the fleet, and getting re-settled and such here." he smiles at her and shrugs. "It's been a busy time for everyone. It's all a little new. I'm not really that well adjusted to...well, being alive. let alone back here, and preparing for a war."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
"Glad to know you have the fleet in order so soon..."
*She gestered for him to walk with her. Her pace was slow, back straight her hands clasping neatly infront. Those blue eyes rested on his own gaze as she continued to look at him.*
"Yes, I imagine that its not been easy to resettle, you've had quite the adventure.. and I can only pray that I hope you do not feel to uncofortable being here. I don't expect you to complain..yet it must be difficult having been dragged from your death in such a fashion." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen offers her only a soft shrug and small smile. "it is not my place to question my duties. I cannot change this now, only do my best to justify it." he laughs softly. "You don't realize how many things you do in a day, until you have to start doing them all over again."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
OOC: Sorry about my last post, I was pretty tired. Just realized how choppy it was. :S
*Angel laughed lightly.*
"Better to be busy than lazy though, is it not? Well, truth be told I'm relieved your back. Tensions of war run high these days and the sooner thats over with the better. I'd rather return to Ravenscrest than fight here, but Jaric will do what he will." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen nods with a smile. "Aye. But it's still new. Like waking up from a dream you just discovered wasn't a dream at all, but still feels hazy and mercurial."
at the talk of war his face grows more somber. "I do not look forward to this conflict. I have seen death from both ends of the sword, and m'lady, it is never pleasant."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
"Would you walk with me? If I don't get the blood working in my body it will freeze where I sit."
*She smiled, looping her arm in his, but her tone was serious.*
"Trust me, dear friend. I can't possibly see anything good coming of this war, should there be one. Jaric has certainly set motions into play..all we can do is sit tight and roll with the waves until the tide passes."
*Angel sighed with a small shake of her head* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen nods and offers his arm, keping pace with her as they walk. "We were the first move. The two lives he bought...he has a plan he has yet to reveal, but the risks must be great if he would dare pull the dead back to the world of the living. But, Jaric has never been one to let a threat sit at his door. This will be war, and brutal. And when blood means less than crowns, everyone bleeds for it."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
"It concerns me, I recognize all that you say, yet he does not tell me what he is thinking as yet..and I do not ask. No doubt he will say in due course...but war is such a risk, surely its a path we can avoid?"
*Her voice was whispered, and remained quiet.* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen stops walking and turns to her seriously. "My Queen... Angel... surely by now you cannot believe we can be reconciled in this still? This IS war. There is no waiting, no negotiating. This is the first step, the first lunge, to test each side's strengths and weaknesses." he shakes his head. "no, this war was a long time coming, and the time for negotiating peace is gone." he sighs. "now the only waiting is for the call to battle. but no, My Queen. There will be no peace until blood has been spilled." he looks up to the sky, his eyes shining silver, the crescent on his cheek a bright liquid scarlet. "The risk has been taken, and he will let us know what our curse will be as it is needed."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Angel paused in her tracks, her eyes narrowed as she looked to Kinsen. She wasn't looking to him in hate, but more in concentration, listening to his words and loosing her patience.*
"Oh Kinsen, of course I know its a war!"
*She finally broke out, admitting it.*
"I happened to live with the slither of hope that something about it might change, because I can't truthfully face that its happening. We are about to charge on lands that were once my own - I was raised in Aegis and now I'm about to watch it fall to tatters because of that useless Queen!"
*Angel clenched her fists to control herself and her voice which had wavered a little.*
"If blood has to be spilled then so be it, but as you well know I won't enjoy an ounce of it. The Auroran people have already suffered so many losses and it was my hope that it would not come to this. My orphanages are full of children from the last war, I don't have room to house more."
*She shook her head, her blonde straight hair falling out of her hat and across her shoulders.*
"Of course, don't think it will stop me from picking up my sword and doing my part either, inexperienced or not." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
="Only the monster enjoys bloodshed. But we do what we must, and not as we wish we could. That is the case now. we do not fight the people, we fight the evil. and good men on both sides will die...men with families, and children. and a good many innocent people may die. that is simply the way of war." he sighs. "to end this, I would gladly give my life again...a hundred times, a thousand times over again. if it would save those lives, I would cast off this which has become my life." he slams a fist to his chest, his voice low and harsh, filled with frusturation, but quiet. "but that will not be the case. i fear one life is not going to make the difference now. at least not how it did. so I must live, and fight, and kill...aye, and perhaps die again, and I will do it with a prayer and song, because it is what must be done, for some sort of good to have this world."
he looks up to the sky to gather his thoughts, brushing hair from his face. "We have nothing but questions still, and I doubt if even Jaric holds the answers we seek. so we look within ourselves, and hope that will be enough. and have faith we will see in our own time."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Walking slowly along once again, she digested his words with much contemplation.*
"Your words are true, dear friend and there's not much I can argue against them. Typical that we have always agreed. Yet, I can't agree with whats good in this world, since it was not defined. I thought doing all that the Gods asked would be bringing good in, yet now it seems that is not the case."
*She shrugged*
"Do not be too eager to give up your life for a second time. It was difficult seeing you pass the first time, I could not do it all over again."
*She managed a smile and decided to try and change the topic just a little, her tone turning more jovial.*
"Now then, let us talk of better things. I thought that while you are home we could have a friendly spar. No doubt your skills need brushing up, and I'll be kind to not bruise you too much." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen sighs softly and nods, smiling lightly. "how life must be purchased with death, in all things. but to every winter, the spring comes." he turns a serious eye to her, but his smile is relaxed. "Life is not so precious a gift in the face of some things."
as she talks of sparring, he laughs. "A spar? I just com back from the lands of the dead, and of all the ways to welcome me, you choose to beat me with blunted steel? My Queen, if you will insist, I could not deny you, but I must say, I would not feel comfortable raising such steel against my liege lady."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Her smile only faultered at his mention of how precious life is. She shook her head.*
"I disagree. When it comes to life, I like to think all of it is precious."
*In light of what had been recently lost, to her it certainly was. She wasn't in the mood to discuss the bigger picture, or how those who had sinned deserved to die. Still, she moved on, determined not to make the conversation sour. Angel couldn't help but laugh as he did after she mentioned sparring*
"I thought you might need the practice, Admiral. I understand if it would shame you if I won..being beaten by a girl who has half the time you have had in training."
*She nudged him playfully.*
"Of course, if it makes you uncomforable, I'll let you pass." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen shakes his head, still grinning. "There will be some poor squire or young knight just as eager, that I would not feel half the guilt for sending back with a few bruises. but you, m'lady? you ask much of this humble knight."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Shaking her head, she laughed also, not in the least offended by his refusal.*
"Well said, dear friend. How about we find time this week to share lunch? A more informal setting, and I promise not to make you fat before you set sail."
*Angel smiled giving Kinsen a friendly a half shrug.* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen smiles gratefully. "A lunch would be pleasant. especially with an old friend. I am at your mercy as to the time and place though, My Queen."
he laughs softly, turning his face into the cool breeze with a smile. "with all of the tension lately, a little relaxation will be welcome."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
"I'll send a summons, and it'll be in the throne room since there's a fantastic view of the surrounding lands from there. Amarra will be jealous, since I usually send for her."
*Laughed a little, still walking*
"She prefers our cook to the one in the Aegis palace. Anyway, it'll be good to catch up, and as you say, especially to ease tensions. We will have to try and keep the conversation light, everything has been so dark and heavy. The Gods are frowning, I fear." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Kinsen allows himself a smile. "Food of any sort is good. flavor is good." he laughs. "I even find myself missing bad winds and stale water." he grins. "I've been too long from a ship." he flashes her a boy-ish grin. "I even find myself missing bad wine and bruises from time to time."
as she speaks of the Gods, he offers a small nod. "The world could use some cheer and light. we all could."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
