*Angel began to walk in the general direction of her chambers, leaving Amarra and Kinsen to their thoughts. The corridor was mostly empty, but she took her time. Her head turned and caught a glimse of Catona standing off to the left behind her.*
"Ah, Catona no doubt you have been ordered to join me? Very well, I welcome the company..especially one such as you."
*She smiled faintly.*
"I suppose the fuss of your legends annoy you, but I have to say your acts of loyalty are awe inspiring." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Catona's green eyes meet hers unflinchingly, his stance perfectly poised and ready. Catona nods at her words, the movement as perfectly wasteless as the rest, a compliment to how the man holds himself. His voice is steady, a pleasing tenor edged with ice and steel. "My Queen, can a man be measured by anything but his actions? Words lie, but deeds speak the heart. What I did, I did for loyalty, aye...and for duty, and for love. But there is nothing so great in a man being honest with himself."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
"A good question with an even better answer. We are in agreement that actions are the loudest form of a persons true spirit , however I'm curious about what force drives the determination behind the action. Why?"
*She moved along at a comfortable pace.*
"You speak of loyalty, duty and love...but even the man with the strongest of those must surely value his life above them? I'm amazed you didn't hold an anounce of fear - that the task at hand was clearly too important."
*Angel wondered if he knew what she meant*
"When Kinsen and I faced SoulReaver, I won't lie, I thought I was going to die and I don't believe I'd be telling the truth if I told you that deep down I wasn't afraid." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Catona follows, matching her pace. "Why? Because what is living with nothing to believe in that is greater than yourself? Without conviction are we ever truly alive? Some things are more important than life. We act because we MUST." his voice never rises above conversation and his stern demeanor adds an oddly sweet sincerity to his words.
"We are all afraid, when asked to do something great. Only fools deny fear as courage. True courage is taking that fear...that overwhelming sense of despair, and fatality, and not just accepting it, but bending it to your will." he brings his fist to his chest slowly. "I looked at death as the greatest sacrifice for the greatest part of my being. What is one man, one life, in the face of all the lives I stood for? It was not the man that fought. The man is weak. It was the faith, and the ideal that held those gates. I was merely the vessel of flesh."=
"It seems we share the same beliefs, yet I notice that not once do you mention the Gods themselves. Do you not think that their hand in fate coupled with your own determination makes a deadly combination - or do you think that the Gods themselves hold no place in ones duty to themselves, the realm or King?"
*Her statement had a double meaning for he could not understand that she was asking for her own benefit, yet she paused in her steps to hear his answer. Regardless of her own station, in her opinion Catona weilded a presence that almost silently matched Jarics* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? =Catona looks at her a long moment. "My faith, my duty, and my king are one, My Queen. There is divinity is all aspects of existence. And though the purpose may not always be clear, the hand of the Gods is in every action, every outcome, every consequence. We are at their mercy, and they see fit to give us choice. Harsh masters, but not without compassion. They give us choice, and let us choose our path. And perhas they lead us to a path we are meant for." he pauses again. "All things have a cost, My Queen. And once paid, there is nothing to do but move forward, and accept the cost as given. We will find our own faith, or forsake as we will. But the Gods will persist, with or without our faith. We are all that perish."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*As he looked to her for that moment before speaking, she matched his gaze, with her own. Angel's head tilted upwards to do so. Her hands clasped together infront of her as she rocked on her heels.*
"I used to think that divinity is abound in everything, and well, now I need to regain those thoughts. Great sacrifces have indeed been made, but how many more will have to be given and is it truely worth it?"
*Shook her head.*
"Pay my words no need, Catona. I appologize, I nearly blasphimed. Latest events here at Icehold have caused my faith to waiver, when I never thought it would ever be possible to do so. Time will indeed heal such but it can't come soon enough." _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Catona does not blink, his gaze steady. "The sacrifice is always worth it, if the cause is in your heart. Sacrifices will continue to be made, and it is on us that the burden is placed, to believe they are worth it. If we look back, we are lost." he nods again slowly. "It is no blasphemy to speak the heart's confusion to faith's ears. Blasphemy is in blind acceptance. Blind faith is more of a sin than questioning one's faith."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Took his words in all seriousness, contemplating them deeply. Slowly, she nodded and glanced away, focusing on the corridor once again.*
"They say 'sometimes some things were just not meant to be'. Such a simple statement yet painfully true at times. I've faced dire situations which have all worked out for the better in the end. Forgive me, Catona..you'll find that I question everything, not out of uncertainty, but more curiosity."
Did she think this would be the case in her instance? Angel was still not sure, her emotions raw. She hadn't asked to sacrifice anything, that had been Jaric's doing. Yet, she bit her lip on the subject, it would do no good now, as Catona had said. Even better would be a change of topic. _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? ~ A suit of armor standing in the hall as decoration opens like a door, Wulfgang stepping out and stopping in front of the pair. Looking at Catona he blinks once as if just waking from sleep and frowns~
Why is it that no one in this gods-forsaken hell pit can stay dead anymore?
~ shrugs~
Anyway, what are we up to today little Queen? Other than sounding morbidly depressing with all of this talk of sacrifce...
=As the door opens, Catona snaps into motion, moving in front of Angel with blade in hand, dropping into an easy battle stance. In an instant, he recognizes the man before him, and his blade seems to disappear into it's sheath and he resumes his former posture.
He looks to Wulfgang with his usual expression, his green eyes still catching everything. "The years have not done well by you, Weapon's Master." a kind of smile comes on his face, mildly warm. "I'm no more dead than your old bones have a right to be."= _________________ "Pain keeps you honest."
*Angel's eyes narrowed, she took an instant step back as the door on the knight opened. Her hand fell to her blade handle, yet Catona was already infront of her before she could draw it.*
"Goodness, Wulfgang! Must you hide like that?"
*She paused, relaxing a little as she listened to the exchange between the two men. Catona's reply causing her to smirk, her next words were in jest.*
"Gentlemen, surely such talk needs to be reserved for the sparring arena?" _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
*Angel frowned at Wulfgang, on this one occassion she didn't appreciate him interupting her conversation or speaking to her like that. However, it was Wulfgangs nature and in her current mood she would not argue, curious as she was about Jaric's order.*
"Excuse me, then.."
*She moved past the two gentlemen doing her best to straighten up and be presentable, raising one hand to smooth her hair as she made her way down the corridor towards the Courtyard.* _________________ Can I interest you in redemption? No? Then we'll have to do this the hard way...
=Catona snaps a quick salute to Angel, and then turns towards Wulfgang with a grim smile. "It has been too long, old friend. How has life treated you, since she stopped treating with me?"=
