The red demon landed on all fours and immediately locked his eyes on the weakened soul of Melchiah, before his head flicked from one side to another to ensure they were alone in the serpents refuge.

"Your power has left you priest." growled Raziel, almost spitting the last word. "Spare yourself the indignity of resisting and I shall make your passing swift."

Doubtful that the Naga would comply, the demons muscles flexed in anticipation beneath the leather of his jacket and prepaired to pounce.

He had been hit with a few good blows, but he was still pretty spry. He felt then the great wave of force hit his heart. He began laughing. He pushed himself to his feet and drew his sabre. It glistened in the darkness, the fires of his realm forged into it. It held no magic, but its grace and beauty was one little seen in this realm of rough hands and minds.

"Your master is dead." Were his only words.

Without a word, he began to advance on the Naga at a purposeful pace, with his tail poised low, ready to strike around either side of his body.

He kept an eye on both tail and shoulder as he waited for Raziel's first strike. "Why do you still follow his whim, demon. Are you jealous that I predicted your lords downfall at just the right time to defect? He lied to me about his identity, what fallacies has he put in your head, I wonder?"

Realising that Melchiah too, was a reactionary fighter Raziel shrugged his jacket off his shoulders and caught it by the color before it hit the floor.((Action 1))

"'The right moment to defect'?" mocked Raziel, "Here you are battered and beaten, your power stripped and your sohe'im slain. As for the dearly departed, do you really think there was anyone in his employ without thier own agend?" And with that the demon cast his jacket like a net at Melchiahs face.((Action 2))

Raziel was right behind the distraction that had masked his advance, giving him the opening he needed to attack. The demon grabbed the hilt of Melchiahs sabre in his left hand (assuming that he is right handed) and the throat of the naja in the other. "Oh please, I've died too many times to make the mistake of telling you that."

Melchiah grunted but followed with a knee to the gut. (1) He knew this trick. He dropped his sword rather than struggle for it. Remaining calm, extended his fangs and went to bite at Raziel's wrist (2).

Raziel relinquished the grip of his right hand as he took the blow to his abdomen, but drug the claws of his left hand into the hand of Melchiah. ((Action 1))

As the naga made for his right hand, Raziel met in kind with an upward headbut from his slightly doubled over possition.((Action 2))

Melchiah staggered backwards from the blow and centered himself. He twisted his arm , attempting to put Raziel in an armbar, (1) and he then proceeded to bring his two fists down to Raziel's back, attempting to at least knock him to the ground. (2)

Raziels claws raked down Melchiahs right hand as he pulled himself free, a hellish grin broke out on the demons face in sadistic glee as he drew first blood.

Distracted, the seemingly unphased Naga was able to beat down on Raziels back, knocking him down on one knee. More of a jerk reaction than an attack, the demons tail lashed out at his opponents upper body, his left hand going to ground to keep his ballance.

((As to your PM, your post works for me, I think we're more or less on the same page. The area is basically just a hollowed out hole in the ground, like a giant version of a rattlesnake or cobra den, a long, round tube leading up to the surface.))

Mel bent down under the swinging tail (1) and kicked out at Raziel's left hand (2), trying to get him into a prone position.

With his tail attack failing to make contact, Raziel was off ballance to begin with before the naga knocked his arm out from under him.

Not one to go down alone, the demon sprang forward as he fell and barrelled into Melchiah shoulder first, confident that his greater number of natural weapons would give him the edge in a groundlocked scuffle against the injured reptile.

Taken by surprise at Raz's quick recovery, he thudded to the ground. It knocked the wind out of him but he recovered quickly and spat a clot of burning black venom at Raz's eyes (1) Hoping this would at least incapacitate him to allow an escape, he let loose a second volley of the corrosive black liquid, this time aiming for the demon's mouth. (2)

Raziel, being on top of Melchiah had made ready to tear out his throat when the spitting caught him completely by surprise. Blinded and stricken by the agony in his eyes, the demon went into a frenzy slashing left and right at the torso of the snake until the second mouthful of venom caught him in the teeth. He instantly fell back away from the naga, hissing as he exhaled forcefully through his teeth and frantically wiping the black ooze off his face.

(( This is the part I hate, interrupting good combat over a minor rules issue. Mel, I hate to do itm but yoiu are limited to one volley of poison every other round, in order to give yourself time to recharge the venom. It was decided that it was only fair since we limit other "breath" weapons, like those of a dragon, to one every 3 rounds.

Sorry for the disruption, but I just wanted to clear it up for future reference.))

Caught up in his assault, the demon was unable to prevent the slash of his victim which clawed three deep wounds across the left of his face. Recoiling, Raziel frantically tried to wipe the venom from his eyes with bloodsoaked hands.

The snake might have been able to plunge Raziels world into darkness, but there was still one light that burned brightly in the demons mind; Melchiahs soul.

The thought that prey which he believed would be weak was getting away from him hightened his rage. Raziel pounced before the naga dissapeared into the tunnel((1)), digging his claws into Melchiahs ankles, intending to tear out his achillies tendons as he pulled him out of the tunnel((2)). The pulling motion made Raziel hunker down, giving his tail a clear path to strike down at the priests neck((3)), determined to end this fight.

The sudden scuffling tipped Melchiah off that this fight was not soon to end. He spun around on his back(1) and kicked up at Raziel's face. (2)

The kick came as Raziel pounced and instead of catching Melchiah from behind, Raziel blocked the kick with his forearms((1)). In retalliation the demon slashed at Melchiahs leg with his right hand((2)) while his tail struck at his chest on the same side.((3))

Mel shouted as his calf was cut, deep red spilling from it. He flinched as the demon's tail came at him moving to the side in recoil (1). Perhaps by divine mercy, it missed his chest but instead pinned his right forearm to the hard stone floor. Enraged, he shouted and reached out for Raz's gullet, claws shimmering in the half-light of the tunnel. (2)

Instincfully, the demon clamped his jaws down on the hand that came in reach. Like an animal tearing meat from a carcass he shook his head violently from side to side, making full use of his mouthful of fangs((1)).

While having Melchiah pinned was an advantage, his tail was too vulnerable when stationary, so Raziel retracted it and prepared for another strike((2)). At the same time his left arm slashed wildly below the nagas outstretched arm((3)).

He screached as the beartrap of Raz's maw shut on his hand. Shaking off the pain of his arm and concentrating on his new, deadlier situation, he got an idea. He pulled the hand in Raziel's mouth closer to him (1), intending to drag his head closer. He then lurched out with his own venom drenched fangs(2), not caring if he hit directly on the neck or not, as any bite would render the attacker blind and out for at least an hour.

The demon sprang into the air above the downed priest, his arms and legs reared and ready to go down onto the creature below him. His tail drew back as well, ready to finish the job or pin the naga should he roll away.((2))
