(Leto had ridden through horrendous conditions to reach the Thunderlands. He was soaked from the rain, and chilled to the bone from the wind. After what seems like hours, he eventually spotted what seemed to be a derilict complex of buildings. Urging Agro onwards, he did not stop until he made it to the complex. Dismounting, and leading Agro to shelter, he skimmed the Baron's letter, and then folder it away.)

"Vladimir! Are you here?"

"Baron, a pleasure as always. Ill cut straight to the point. I know you are an assassin, and not a.... courier, but for this task, I can think of no-one else who would guarantee success, let alone attempt the job. TTHe item I request you retrive, would not be returned to me, but would be returned to the Meriddian palace for safekeeping. I would pay very handsomely for this job."

(He pauses to gauge how the Baron views the situation, before telling him what item he seeks)

(The materialisation of the tigers made him somewhat apprehensive, and he regretted not bringing an escort at that moment. Still, he had to adapt to the situation - he made it appear as if he was stroking Agro's mane as he spoke, when in reality he was preparing to quickly mount him for a hasty departure.)

"To win this war, it is my strong belief that we not only defeat the armies of the enemy, but also that we defeat the puppetmaster controlling them. If we do not, then it will only be a matter of time before we return to the current stand off. I have spoken to various people about the sword Baron, so I know that what I propose is not mere conjecture, but rather, an educated estimation. I know that Soulreaver is one of a twin set of swords, each of them exists to balance out the other one. But with the appearance of the demon inside Soulreaver, the balance becomes uneven. I then discovered that somehow the good sword, Angelfire, has a daughter - a paladin known as Angel. I have never met this woman, but in order for my plan to succeed, I will need to meet her."

(He grips Agro's mane tightly, so that he is ready to depart as soon as he can, should the Baron react poorly to what he had to say next.)

"To restore the balance, I believe that after the Aegian army is victorious - this woman will need to use the sacred sword, in single combat, against the demon residing in the evil blade. I volunteered myself to training her for the task, and I have arranged a meeting with your brother, General Carthallion towards that end. But your brother holds the final piece of the puzzle - the sacred sword. This is the job I need completed. I need for you either to convince him to relinquish the sword to Angel, or to relinquish it to Queen Bathory, for safekeeping until a later time. I realise that this involves your brother, but I strongly believe that this plan can succeed."

(Leto is ready to escape at a moments notice at this point)

You have no clue as to what you are really asking do you boy? AngelFire is no mere "sacred sword" as you say. It's touch alone can burn a man's soul to cinders as it purifies...<<turns his left palm up showwing the rose-shaped scar on his palm>> I held it for a breif instant, long enough to hurl it at an attacker, and the mark will not fade. Keep that in mind, I am merely a vampyre, and you ask me to hand the sword over to our demon Queen.

Consider also, Jaric was charged with keeping the blade by his gods. What on earth makes you think I could convince him to hand the waepon to an un-trained novice and then pit her against the only force capable fo destroying it?

(Leto examines the scar on Vladamir's palm as he displays it.)

"Becuase Baron, in all these times of planning and plotting, we could be training this girl. Not necessarily military training, but training of a.... different nature. We need to nuture any sense of defiance and courage she harbours, we need to make sure she can stand in front of the Demon, and stand her ground. The military training, we can work on as our plans formulate - and I personally volunteered for this task."

(His eyes move from the left tiger, to the right tiger, and then back to Vladamir)

"You say that Soulreaver is the only force capeable of destroying Angelfire - this means that Angelfire is the only force capeable of destroying Soulreaver. What else can we do? If we do not move against Soulreaver once the war is over, then years from now you and I could be having this same conversation, about how we should move to destroy the Demon."

(Pauses briefly before continuing.)

"I am young Baron, and I do not have your wealth of experience upon which to draw on, but I believe this can work. If it does not, or if a similar approach does not, then one day Aegis will fall - and then Aurora. If we combine our strength now, in this moment, we can deal the evil which threatens the land a blow from which it will not recover."

My boy, Aurora has fallen. Why do you think we are all here on this gods-forsaken rock? I do not think you understand the full scope of what you'rte asking. You want me to convince Jaric to tunr the one tool the realm has as leverage over the demon over to a complete unaccounted for stanger and then allow you to "train" her?

Did you hit you head on the ride over or were you born terminally foolish?

"Baron, the purpose of a tool is to use it. By not using it, we have a deterrant, as does the enemy. As it stands, we are at a stalemate. We may be putting our leverage on the line, but what is the point of having the leverage if we are afraid to press home the advantage? Besides, all of this would take place under the watchful eye of the council - and her progress will of course be relayed to you all."

<,shakes his head>> Oh yes, the council...what a wondrous collection of brilliant minds we have there...sometime you should sit in on a meeting it would open your eyes considerably.

No. if you want to see this matter dealt with I am afraid you will have to deal with my brother on your own. I have neither the time nor the patience to play a fool's errand for you, and, truly, only a fool would attempt to convince Jaric to hadn over that sword.

I'd sooner make a bargain with the demon than attempt to manipulate my brother. Better odds of staying alive that way.

(The Baron was not one to be toyed with, and Leto could see he was going to gain nothing further from this venture. He mounted Agro, and turned to leave. Before he turned away from the Baron, he had one more thing to say.)

"Very well Baron. I thank you for your time in meeting with me anyway. I just need you to understand one thing. I may be young and inexperienced, but I do have the best interests of this realm at heart, and I still firmly believe this plan can succeed. I approached you, not to manipulate your brother, but rather in the hope that he might listen to you with more credibility than I. But I shall heed your advice, and speak with him. Thank you."

(With a loud cry he urges Agro onward, back towards Meriddia, hoping to make the return journey as short as possible.)

Another idealistic fool off to save teh realm. I so wonder how long it will be before SoulReaver has this one as he did Darius...howlong till he grows dis-illusioned and jaded like the rest of us?
