=Damyn sat in the old graveyard, upon a rather large tombstone. his eyes were seemingly closed, though they were slitted enoguh to allow vision. he smiled coldly, his fingers tracing lightly and lovingly over the old worn stone below him. he could feel the spirits around him, the energy of the dead flowing through his body.

he remained motionless for the better part of two hours. slowly, as if out of a trance, he rose to his feet from the tombstone. with a backwards glance at the tomorrow which was his home and study, he began to slowly walk through the vast, ancient burial grounds. his hands found the blades sheathed at his wrists, tracing their hilts idly as he walked. Soulreaver...a great master. harsh, but with rewards for the loyal. he smiled, one pale hand snaking from beneath his black robes to run along a cracked monument. he would await his rewards patiently. had he a choice? no...no, of course not. he would remain, and teach the boy, and gain power, for power was the only truth. these thoughts and similar ones echoed in his head as he meandered bvetween the markers of the long dead, fingertips tracing faded messages and cracked sculpture alike. kings and peasants alike lay beneath his feet. how wonderfully equalizing death was. only the truly great escaped it. he smiled again, his usual calm, cold smile, reminiscient of moonlit graveyards and eternity. time was in his eyes, ever cloaked by his deep cowl...life was brief, but death was eternal and all consuming, and such power was his to wield...in his blood and his mind. he let magical energies dance around his fingertips, reveling in the simple feeling of power it invoked...=

=Damyn stopped here and there on his way through the gaveyard, stooping to pick some plant or flower or trim this leaf from a tree or bush. he made his way back to the tower which was his home and study and laboratory. the things he gathered deftly disappeared into hidden pockets within his voluminous robes as he glided silently through the dark cemetery. the solitude appealed to his nature, and...the dead spoke to him, called to him...whispered and screamed his name as he passed among the dust of their bodies. he moved towards the tower at a steady but casual pace, stopping once he reached the tower doors to look back out over the graveyard, his ghost-light smile curving the corners of his mouth as he entered...=

"Good afternoon, priest..." came the hissing voice of Melchiah. He stood near a large obelisk, accompanied by two of his priests. Heavily bandaged, they gave hints at their hideous alterations but no more than that. Slitted eyes gazed out from layers of gauze. Skin meshed with Scale and their movements were distorted from normal human fare.

"How fare you?" inquisited the High Priest.

=Damyn stops wih the door half opened, turning back towards melchiah with a nod of acknowledgement. he smirks coldly within the deep shadows of his cowl. "You are mistaken..I am no priest, only a humble servant. though, i do fare well. how could I not, under such a powerful master?" he tilts his head slightly, his voice cold and quiet, bringing to mind silk wrapped razors. his hand never leaves the door as he stands looking at the trio.=

One who raises the dead is clearly a priest, and a priest is a servant by definition. He turned to the two accompanying him. "Return to the temple. Direct the other Sohei in my place, you know the regiment."

As they moved off into the distance, he moved closer to Damyn, his large staff in hand. "Tell me, you don't find any anger in your heart towards The Master of these lands, to my Lord Soul Reaver?"

=Damyn offers a slight shrug, not arguing with Melchiah's views of priesthood. he did not raise the dead. he commanded death. he tilts his head as Melchiah moves closer, chuckling softly. "why would i feel anger towards him? he offers me power, and he has not wronged me. he is harsh, but rewarding. no, no anger." he smiles his ghostly smile within the shaodws of his cowl. "why do you ask?"=

He let out a belting cough. "Heh, you think you command death." He coughed again, catching black blood on his robe's sleeve. "Only that which has never walked the Earths we tread upon can truly command death...Necromancy is far too much a mortal institution to offer such divine powers. Its so crude, much like the magics of war we use beyond the doors in the realm where I saw my birth."

He took a few steps closer to him, slowly, deliberately.

"He ousted your others, nearly killed the one who seemed your leader...you feel no ill will to him, then?"

=Damyn nods his head, barely. no sense in arguing. he takes his hands from the door, fully facing melchiah, crossing his arms comfortably over his chest, hands within his sleeves. his tone is soft and quiet, as always. "They were fools...he offered us power, and a place where we had none. I cann't feel anger towards him for culling the herd, only towards them for almost jeopordizing my place."=

He moved forward further, until he was but a few paces from Damyn. "Then swear your alliegiance to him, your loyalty. This day and no other. Pledge your life to him. There are several here with misguided ambition. They are stupid, they are brash and unwise and they threaten his coutenance. They can bring about no end to him and yet they stand to sieze his power at the instant he obtains it. That sort of wild ambition is in any case...dangerous. Come with me into my sepulchre, and I shall show you a world that will unlock within you almost unlimited power."

=Damyn looks at melchiah, and tilts his head. "I have pledged my allegiance to him, before the master himself. he knows my loyalties very well. they are to power, and to him. so, what does it offer me to pleade to him again?" his tone never changes, a constant, soft velvet voice=

=Damyn chuckles softly. "I am loyal to the power he offers. when that ceases, so do my loyalty to him. and he knows this. he can enter my thoguhts and intentions. I hold no secrets from him." he tilts his head slightly. "do you worry for the intentions of those of us not sworn directly to the faith, priest? those who would betray him have sworn loyalty of convenience. they seek to use master Soulreaver's power as a shield for their own ends. hsi power is the end I seek. and he offers it to me for my loyalty. so, he has it, until he has no power left." he smiles coldly. "did you expect anything less, priest? I will not lie to you as i would not lie to him. I have no fear of my words being heard by him. he knows all of this, and he knows that it is mutually benefitial."=

Walks slowly to the necromancers tower and notes the priest Melchiah having an in depth discussion with master Damyn. With his hands behind his back, Ash approaches slowly.

"I have come for my lesson, Master Damyn. If now is not a good time, I can return to the previous studies you have given me."

Nods respectfully to Damyn & Melchiah

::Follows into the tower.::

There does need to be a seperation between power and arrogance. I never wish to make the mistake my mother did - which is to assume myself too good to be harmed by an enemy. I have been reading facts about previous kings...and this is how they have all failed.

::Opens one of his books and places it on a nearby table, hovering over it::

"Take this previous King of Aegis....King Whitewolf..."

::Traces his fingers across the text, then looks up.::

"It states that he let his guard down..trusted his royal advisor...the General Cortez...and left him to rule whilst he took a long trip away. King Whitewolf was arrogant enough to believe he was untouchable and hence my mother was able to steal the throne."

::Glances back down and flips a few pages::

"What I was thinking...master Damyn...it says that this King Whitewolf was..."

::Looks up again, eagerly::

"An elf mage. Assuming he is now dead and burried in Aegis, although it doesn't say in this particular book - what would be the results of rising his corpse?"

=Damyn traces his finegrs along the pages of the book, his eyes absorbing the words quickly. "To raise his corpse...it depends on the level of magic used." he looks at Ash. "to combine servitude with his level of magical power would take...some measure of experience to do. it could be done though."=

=Damyn looks at Ash and remains silent a moment. "Fidnign the corpse is pure divination. perhaps, yes...if we had...part of it, or a possession of the deceased that was important. something with spiritual residue. and to bring it to us?? perhaps far harder, even magically." he tilts his head, thinking on what it would require and the plausibility of what he thought Ash was suggesting=

"For shock value mostly...and if his magic was as old as the books claim, he might make a good weapon against my mother in my final battle to take the throne."

=Damyn nods again, and lets his eyes once more scan the pages of the book. he speasks to melchiah without looking at him. "The boy wishes to find and summon to us the body of an old king of the realm. he wishes to use this king's magic against his motehr to regain the throne, and perhaps as a sign of our master's power and favor." he glances up slowly. Again they are interrupted by a knock at the door...Melchiah turned and opened the rusty old slie. A fury of hissing whispers sounded softly.. He nodded and his face turned (if possible) even more grim. He put up the hood on his robe and turned to the two.

"I must take my leave, though I find your parlay interesting...the Drake has launched attack on the city of Draco. I must ready my priests for open war."

He opened the door to leave, stopping and turning with a nod at each. Master Damyn, Master Ash, good day.
