A New Home...and Lunch.

Had set up lunch out in the grounds , a picnic of sorts. The blanket was laid out in a location where he would see her enter on her way through to the castle. Laid out neatly was and asortment of food such as salad, various sandwiches, orange juice and an option of iced water.

~heads back to the castle for lunch, examining her papers as she walks. She's so engrossed in what she's reading that she almost misses Jared sitting outside. She stops in surprise and turns to meet him instead of going inside, tucking the papers back into her satchel~

I didn't expect you out here! This is lovely.

"I noticed the weather was nice, and thought 'why not?'"

Chuckles

"I hoped you would like it. Help yourself, there's plenty of everything."

Gets out two glasses.

"What would you like to drink?"

It is a nice day.

~smiles and sits down on the blanket across from him, keeping her satchel close by her side. She thinks a moment, then nods~

Maybe just water. There's a lot of work to do, and I might need the strength.

~looks over the selection of food and chooses a sandwhich, which she sniffs at daintily and then takes a little bite~

Mmm. You always have good taste. So how are you settling into your rooms? I hope nothing was damaged or lost on the way here.

Nods, taking the jug of water with ice and pouring it. He hands it across to her, then focuses on his own drink.

"Good taste? Well, thank you."

Grins.

"No, nothing was damaged or lost - to my knowledge. I haven't checked it all yet. I like this castle, I remember playing here when I was young, so I found it easy to settle into."

I don't think I'd ever been in the castle before I moved in. I'd been to the mage school many times, and then of course I lived there for a while, but now that there is a headmaster it wasn't necessary for me to stay there. I do miss the students coming and going, but it's nice at the castle too.

"There's no reason why you can't see the students again. We could hold a ball and invite the senior year if you wish? We'll make them feel welcome to come and talk to us any time they like and you'll feel like you're back at the mage school - and get one over on Rensain."

The only problem with that idea is that he might want to attend. I'm not sure I could take an entire evening of condescension. If you can find a way around that, though, it might be fun. We could make it an anual event for the final year.

Do you really think he'd be okay with that? He invited himself to the headmaster position in the first place. Didn't you know about that?

He just wandered in and took over, without even consulting the queen first. Since he holds me in about the same regard as a child or one of his servants, I truly don't think it would matter to him whether he'd been officially invited or not.

~shakes her head and takes a sip of water, causing the star on her forehead to glow briefly~

But this day is far too nice for unpleasant thoughts.

"Thats up to you. Its convienent if we are in the same room, but there're plenty of space for seperate offices should you need space and privacy. I wouldn't be offended either way."

I was thinking the same thing. I suppose if either of us needs to conduct private business we can find another room temporarily, though I can't see that happening very often. I have an office set up already, but it's easy enough to move my things to a larger room.

He smiles, taking another chunk of the apple and thinking for a few minutes.

"I think it will all work out, I'm glad to be here in Draco and able to help. With the two of us combined, we'll make this a city that even Meriddia will want to compete with."

I just want the city to be safe, and its people happy. Well, as happy as people ever are. If that happens, then Draco will be a great contributor to Aegis as a whole. I'm glad you're here, too. There's still a lot I don't know about leading a city.

That's true, for good and bad. Things still surprise me here, but that's not always a bad thing. Aegis makes life under the sea seem very dull.
